The Ministry of Agriculture held a meeting with a delegation led by Roberto Perosa, Secretary of trade and international relations of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said that the development of Agriculture was defined as a priority area by the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. It was as a result of this policy that the agrarian sector in our country entered a new stage of its development. Minister Majnun Mammadov informed the participants of the meeting about the role of Agriculture in the development of the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan, state support for the agrarian sector, reforms carried out in the field of agriculture, application of electronic Agricultural Information System, electronization of agrarian services, favorable investment climate in our republic.
During the meeting, the issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Brazil in the agrarian sector and the creation of a legal and contractual base, increasing the trade turnover of agricultural products, the transfer of the most modern technologies in the agrarian sector, strengthening cooperation in the field of animal husbandry, implementation of internship programs in the agricultural sector were discussed. During the meeting, the issue of expanding the export of Azerbaijani agricultural products to Brazil was discussed.
Minister Majnun Mammadov touched upon the importance of the annual exhibition “Caspian Agro”, which is held in our country, and called on Brazilian businessmen to actively participate in it, as well as to explore opportunities to invest in the agricultural sector of Azerbaijan, taking into account a reliable and favorable business environment.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that there is great potential for expanding mutual relations in the field of Agriculture. The sides expressed their interest in further development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of Agriculture.
At the end, there was an extensive exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
