On December 13, a meeting of the Cocoon Manufacturers Council was held at the Institute of Veterinary of the Ministry of Agriculture. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, subordinate institutions, the Institute of Veterinary, members of the Cocoon Manufacturers Council, the country’s leading miners and silkworm propagation consultants.
In his opening remarks, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that as a result of policies pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, the agricultural sector, like other sectors of the economy, has entered a qualitatively new stage of development: “Agricultural reforms carried out by the head of state provide for the further development of agriculture, and for this the government is taking major support measures”.
Noting that wealth and silkworms in Azerbaijan have a rich historical tradition and great potential, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, gave important instructions on the development of this sector. In his speech, the Minister touched upon a set of measures implemented to develop culinary development in Azerbaijan. He informed the farmers about preparations for the next harvest season and forthcoming tasks, development of cocoon, goals and prospects. Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture Shohrat Vakilov, director of the Center for Agricultural Science and Innovation Imran Jumshudov, head of the organization and monitoring of crop production department of the ministry Rafail Guliyev, director of the Institute for Veterinary Siyala Rustamova, director Nizami Garibov, director of the Gakh Pedigree Silkworm Breeding Station Ekrem Fataliyev, director of Azeri silk textile LLC Nizami Garibov as well as farmers engaged in cocoon, spoke about the current situation with the production of cocoon in the country and shared their views on the development of cocoon. At the meeting, the Cocoon Manufacturers Council discussed an action plan for 2020, exchanged views on the development of cocoon and upcoming tasks, as well as proposals from farmers. At the end of the discussion, it was stated that meetings in this format would be continued and farmers would be informed about the work being done to address the issues raised. At the end of the event, participants visited the mobile barn for breeding silkworms.
