New rule came into force on subsidizing of agricultural production

07 January 2020

The rule "Subsidizing of agricultural production" came into force on January 1, 2020. In accordance with the new Regulation approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 27, 2019, agricultural subsidies will be provided to farmers via E-agricultural Information System (EAIS).

A new mechanism supporting agricultural activities will increase accountability and transparency in this field, ensure the efficient use of budgetary funds, and simplify and facilitate electronic registration and access to farmers.

The Ministry of Agriculture has completed all preparations for the introduction of the new mechanism. www.eagro.az was created inside the e-government portal www.mygov.az, and as of January, 450,000 farmers were registered on this portal. Information on farmers' land documents and autumn sown were integrated into the system with the support of intensive staff training of the Ministry of Agriculture. This information is currently being tracked. After completed monitoring, subsidies will be gradually transferred to farmers' cards.

Under the new subsidy rules, farmers will be able to purchase 6 types of subsidies through EAIS. It is planned to provide subsidies for crop, product, seed, animal, bee and cocoon through EAIS. The sections on subsidies for crop and animal, which should be prioritized, are available in the farmer's personal account in the Subsidy Information System on www.eagro.az.

The amount of funds available to farmers for all types of subsidies has already been determined. Each farmer who applies for a subsidy in an electronic personal account will be able to calculate the subsidy available to him / her in the office calculator before approving the application.

To ensure a quick transition to electronic systems and timely payment of subsidies to farmers, the Council on Agricultural Subsidies announced by 2020 the subsidy ratios for plant, crop and seed, seeding quotas for plants and regions.
