Minister Majnun Mammadov observed the grain harvesting process in Khachmaz and met with farmers

Grain harvesting continues in the Republic. Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov observed the process of grain harvesting in Khachmaz district.

This year, 18942 hectares of autumn grain were planted in Khachmaz district. 12029 hectares of crops are wheat, 6913 hectares are barley fields. 48 harvesters take part in the harvesting process in the district. 28 of them are combines owned by individuals and legal entities. "Agroservis" OJSC dislocated 20 harvesters for grain harvesting.

Mowing has already been completed in 45.2 percent of the land in the distrct. In other words, the harvest of 8,570 hectares has been completed to date, and 25,126.5 tons have been harvested from the fields. The average grain yield is 29.3 quintals.

Minister Majnun Mammadov took part in the process of grain harvesting in Alıqıshlag village of the region, met with local farmers and informed about the work done to organize the harvest quickly and without losses. The head of the "Azerbaijan-Turkey Seed Research Joint Venture " Imamhuseyn Shirinov said that "Gobustan" wheat variety was planted in 28 hectares of land, and they expect an average harvest of 44-46 quintals from the field.

Discussions with farmers exchanged views on the development of grain growing, the correct selection of seeds, fertilizer norms, compliance with the rules of agrotechnical care in grain crops, new cultivation methods, state support mechanisms and other topics.

Farmers' proposals for the development of the agrarian sector were recorded and instructions were given to resolve the issues raised.

It should be noted that, according to the operational headquarters created in the Ministry of Agriculture in connection with the organization of grain harvesting, harvesting has already been completed in 58 percent of the winter sown areas.

Harvesting has already been completed on an area of 588,577 hectares. 1,052,160 tons of barley and 825,419 tons of wheat were harvested from the fields. The harvesting process has been completed in 83.1% of barley and 40.1% of wheat fields. At present, the average yield is 29.8 quintals for barley and 35.1 quintals for wheat.

Currently, intensive harvesting process is underway in the districts of the Republic.
