As part of his visit to the Northern Region, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov visited farms and met with farmers.
The Minister first got acquainted with the corn field under the Pivot irrigation system in Udullu village of Shabran region. It was reported that in recent years, interest in corn cultivation has increased in the country. Silage corn cultivation improves the satisfaction of the needs of livestock farms for juicy and juicy feed and the provision of nutritious feed. Corn plantations play an important role in meeting the needs of farms specializing in dairy farming for green feed, especially during the wintering period.
Later, Minister Majnun Mammadov visited intensive and superintensive apple, pear, plum, nectarine, cherry and quince gardens built in Agalig village of the region on an area of 50 hectares. Fruit growing in Shabran is considered one of the traditional branches of Agriculture. In recent years, the provision of state subsidies to newly planted intensive Orchards has a positive impact on the development of this area. Increasing the volume of fruit produced in the country not only reduces the demand for foreign products, but also has a positive effect on the economic situation of local farmers. The establishment of productive gardens plays an important role in ensuring food security and increasing exports. T
he Minister also got acquainted with the poultry farm operating in Davachi village. The products produced in this farm are mainly realized in the domestic market. The creation of this type of farms in the regions also has a positive effect on ensuring employment. The farm employs up to 100 employees, whose production capacity is growing every year.
Majnun Mammadov visited the greenhouse complex operating in Davachi village. The Greenhouse Complex, located on an area of 2 hectares, grows 150 tons of vegetables per year. In the future, it is planned to further expand the area of the greenhouse complex and further increase production. The minister discussed with farmers the issues of growing vegetables in greenhouse conditions, the rules of agrotechnical care, the sale of products, and gave them his recommendations.
It should be noted that the interest in agroecotourism has increased in Azerbaijan in recent years. Agroecotourism is an industry that does not require substantial investments for farmers, allowing them to form a new source of income for them. For this reason, exemplary farms operating in Azerbaijan also contribute to the further revival of agroecotourism by offering tourism.
One such farm is located in Shabran district. With a total area of 1.5 hectares, more than 50 types and varieties of fruits and vegetables are grown in the garden. The head of the agroecotourism Center Shohrat Mammadov said that more ecological cultivation methods are preferred in the garden. Provided with solar panels, the garden is irrigated with a modern water-saving drip irrigation system. Noting the importance of the scientific approach in the agrarian sector, Shohrat Mammadov emphasized that seminars and trainings on various fields of Agriculture were held in the training room located in the center.
At the meeting, discussions were held on the further development of agroecotourism, cooperation between farms operating in this field, the study of foreign experience, the role of this field in the development of domestic tourism and increasing the level of employment in the regions, and the farmer was advised to cooperate with the relevant structural units of the Ministry.
