Opportunities for cooperation in the field of agriculture of the two countries were discussed in Amsterdam.
The delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Majnun Mammadov is on an official visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Within the framework of the visit, Minister Majnun Mammadov met with the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Femke Mariye Viersma.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and companies operating in the agricultural sector attended the meeting. Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov informed about the main directions of the agrarian development strategy in Azerbaijan, implemented innovative projects, and brought to the attention that the development of national agro-food systems with the diversification of the economy in our country is one of the main goals.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the field of Agriculture. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan is interested in studying the successful experience of the Netherlands as a leading agricultural country in the agricultural sector, and the possibility of expanding cooperation between the relevant public and private institutions of the two countries in the future in terms of both scientific and exchange of experience in this area was noted.
The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and nature of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in turn, stressed that his country is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of agriculture. He noted that there is great potential for expanding mutual relations in the field of Agriculture, and it is important to develop cooperation between private organizations in this area. The Minister touched upon the importance of holding the 29th Session of the Conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) in Azerbaijan, expressed their interest in shaping the agenda of COP 29 and emphasized their desire to cooperate in this direction.
The sides exchanged views on increasing the trade turnover of agricultural and food products, transfer of the most modern technologies in the agricultural sector, digitization, implementation of experimental programs in the agricultural sector in the fields of scientific research and education, exchange of information in the field of scientific research, conducting joint scientific research, training of professional personnel, advanced in the agricultural sector transfer of experience and technologies, directions of future cooperation between the two countries.
