As part of his visit to the Shaki-Zagatala economic zone, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov visited farms in Gakh district and met with farmers.
Meeting with the members of “Zarganad” Cooperative for the Production of Beekeeping Products in Turajli village, the Minister was informed about the need for the formation of the cooperative, the production of beekeeping products, packaging, participation in exhibitions, the advantages brought by beekeepers to join production forces.
The head of the cooperative Kamran Seyidali said that despite the rainy weather, the productivity this year is quite good. The beekeeper farmer said that Bee families are taken to 5 different places during the season and said that this factor has a positive effect on honey production and product quality.
Noting that interest in beekeeping has increased in recent years, members of the cooperative said that more than 30 thousand bee families are currently kept in farms in the gakh region.
Minister got acquainted with the products of the Cooperative for the production of beekeeping products "Zarganad", gave recommendations on branding of products, organization of sales and marketing work.
Then Minister Majnun Mammadov got acquainted with the intensive garden built on an area of 40 hectares in Zayam village. Minister was informed about the growth of interest in gardening in the Shaki-Zagatala economic region in recent years. It was noted that the area of intensive Gardens in Gakh region is also increasing, along with hazelnut Gardens, which are traditional for the region, the planting area of peach, nectarine, plum, apple orchards is expanding. Correct implementation of the rules of agrotechnical care in gardens has a serious impact on increasing yields. Noting that intensive gardening has a significant impact on both the growth of employment and the reproduction of farmers' incomes, farmers noted that they are constantly benefiting from state support mechanisms.
Within the framework of the visit, Minister also got acquainted with the activities of the newly established corn drying point in Goragan village. It was noted that the increase in corn cultivation areas in the region necessitates the creation of such enterprises. An excess of moisture indicators of the crop during the harvest period does not allow selling the product at a reasonable price. In this case, the corn drying point allows farmers to pack their products by drying them mechanically in accordance with the standards and store them for a long time.
The proposals voiced at the meeting were recorded and farmers were advised to cooperate with relevant structural units of the ministry.
Majnun Mammadov also got acquainted with the construction of a new Cold Storage in the Gakh Agropark of “Ulu Agro” LLC operating in the Gakh region, was interested in the production indicators of cereals and legumes in the agropark, and visited the newly laid Gardens.
