Minister Majnun Mammadov met with the leadership of the Association of Cotton Producers of Azerbaijan

Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov met with the leaders of the Association of Cotton Producers of Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by heads of relevant departments and structural divisions of the Ministry.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Majnun Mammadov mentioned that cotton-growing is one of the agricultural sectors with strong traditions in our republic. The development of this area has a positive effect on the reproduction of farmers' incomes, increasing the level of employment in the regions. Cotton-growing, which is the most industrious sector of Agriculture, is distinguished by its high value added and high export potential. The state is implementing mechanisms to support the development of cotton growing, thanks to which interest in its cultivation has increased. Noting that the Ministry supports the application of modern irrigation systems in cotton growing, as well as in other areas, the minister said that in the future a differential subsidy mechanism can be applied to farmers using these systems in cultivation.

Chairman of the Board of the Association of Cotton Producers of Azerbaijan Farid Firudinov said that the main goal of the activity of the public organization headed by him is to increase the well-being of the sector participants by increasing the productivity and quality indicators of cotton produced in our country by promoting the possibility of applying modern scientific and technical innovations The Association, which unites in its ranks the largest companies engaged in the supply and processing of cotton in the country, seeks to contribute its contribution to the development of the sector.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged ideas on the current state of cotton growing in the country, the latest agrotechnical measures taken during harvesting, the organization of pest control, the level of preparation of techniques for the harvesting process. The participants also exchanged views on the organization of the supply mechanism according to the quality parameters in cotton supply, developing the value chain, ensuring sustainability in farms, membership in the “Better Cotton Initiative” organization, quality of drugs used in cotton growing, types of yarn produced for the first time in the country, creation of cotton varieties suitable for local conditions and other important topics.

The proposals voiced at the meeting were recorded and instructions were given to the relevant departments and structural units to evaluate the proposals.
