ADA University held a meeting with undergraduate students admitted to the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences within the framework of the Italy-Azerbaijan University project

For the first time at ADA University in the 2024-2025 academic year, admission of students to Bachelor's degree of the Faculty of “Agricultural and Food Sciences” was carried out within the framework of the Italian-Azerbaijani university project. On the occasion of the beginning of the new academic year at ADA University, a meeting was held with the students admitted to Bachelor's degree of the Faculty of “Agriculture and Food Sciences” and their parents. The meeting was attended by Rector of ADA, Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov, leaders of the Ministry, teaching staff, students and their parents.

Opening the event, rector of ADA University Hafiz Pashayev said that the educational institution headed by him trains professionals in the most important specialties in accordance with the requirements of the country's economy. Noting that agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the country's economy, rector Hafiz Pashayev said that in modern times, the training of competitive personnel in the agrarian sector is of great importance. Hafiz Pashayev mentioned that highly qualified agricultural specialists will be trained at the Faculty of “Agriculture and Food Sciences” established within the framework of the Italy-Azerbaijan University project, adding that cooperation with the University of Bologna in Italy will bring international level education and skills to young people studying in this field. In conclusion, the rector stressed that the first students of the mentioned faculty admitted this year will graduate from ADA University as professionals who can support the development of our country.

Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov gave detailed information to the students about the main directions of the agrarian development strategy in our country, state support for the agrarian sector, the activities of the ministry, implemented innovative projects. Noting that the importance is attached to the application of innovations and modern technologies in the agrarian sector, the principles of sustainable development, the minister stressed that it will be beneficial for society for students to master innovations in this field and apply them in future activities.

The dean of the newly opened faculty Matteo Vittuari gave detailed information to the participants on competitive staff training, organization of the educational process, cooperation between ADA-Bologna university, exchange of experience in the agrarian sphere. Noting that ADA University closely cooperates with public and private institutions operating in the agrarian sector, Matteo Vittuari said that mutual exchange of knowledge and experience with the University of Bologna creates the basis for training students as professional personnel.

Speaking in his speech, the head of the Office of the Ministry of Agriculture Azad Jafarli called agriculture a strategic and unique area. Noting that in January-July of this year, 540 million US dollars worth of agricultural products were exported from Azerbaijan to foreign markets, Azad Jafarli said that this indicator increased by 8.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Noting that the development of the agrarian sector depends on professional personnel, the head of the Office expressed confidence that the students will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills and contribute to the dynamic development process of our country.

Later, the students admitted to the Faculty of Agriculture and food sciences and their parents ' questions were answered and discussions were held on the organization of the educational process.

It should be noted that the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences was established as a result of cooperation with the University of Bologna within the framework of the Italian-Azerbaijani University project. From this year, bachelor's and master's specialties will be taught at ADA University's Baku campus, regional centers in Gazakh and Ganja.
