A solemn meeting dedicated to the day of Agricultural Workers was held

A solemn meeting dedicated to November 1 - the day of agricultural workers was held at the Ministry of Agriculture. Speaking at the event, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov congratulated farmers on their professional holiday. Minister said that today, as a result of the political course pursued by the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has become a powerful state with a stable and sustainable economy, as well as large financial resources, occupying an important geopolitical and geo-economic position and playing a strategic role in ensuring global energy security. At present, Azerbaijan is confidently moving forward with a new development strategy and is experiencing the next stage of national state building. In accordance with the tasks set by the head of state to ensure food security in the country, the activities of the agricultural sector are established in accordance with current challenges and uninterrupted production of agricultural products is ensured.

Minister said that the successes and high results achieved today in the agrarian sector are highly appreciated by the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Recalling that the head of state awarded orders and medals to 37 people working in the agricultural sector, Majnun Mammadov thanked President Ilham Aliyev on behalf of people working in the agricultural sector for his high attention and care.

Recalling that on November 11-22 this year, Azerbaijan will host the 29th conference of states party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), Minister added that on November 19, the “Food, Agriculture and Water Day” will also touch upon the topic of climate change and climate-friendly agriculture, and the presentation of the Baku Harmony Climate Initiative This initiative, created to support adaptation to climate change in agriculture, will contribute greatly to the introduction of climate-friendly agricultural technologies in Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, head of the agrarian and Environmental Department of the Cabinet of Ministers Latif Gasimov noted that the attention and care to the agrarian sector, which began during the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan, is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. The head of the department added that the formation of new economic relations in the agrarian sector, the application of more innovative approaches are bearing fruit and significant successes are achieved in the agrarian sector.

Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Policy of the Milli Majlis, MP Tahir Rzayev noted that the role of the agrarian sector in the development of the non-oil sector in the country is great. According to him, in 9 months of this year, the value of gross agricultural product at actual prices amounted to 10 billion 438 million Manats. Tahir Rzayev said that the modern era has put new realities and new requirements in front of the agrarian sector and noted that agricultural workers have great responsibilities and responsibilities.

Vahid Novruzov, director of “Agro Food Investments” LLC, Farhad Garashov, Chairman of the Association of pomegranate producers and exporters of Azerbaijan, beekeeper farmer Anar Mammadov expressed their gratitude to the head of state for his value, spoke about the work done in the agrarian sector, emphasized that state support for agriculture further increases interest in this area.

Later, a group of employees of the Ministry of Agriculture were awarded with an honorary diploma by The Trade Union of workers of the agrarian sector for distinction in service. Also, within the framework of COP29, the winners of the “Agriculture in harmony with nature” competition were awarded, which was announced in order to draw attention to environmental issues, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, as well as the impact of green energy on agriculture and promote waste recycling.

Speaking at the event, employees of the Ministry and farmers expressed their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev on behalf of people working in the agricultural sector for the high attention and care shown.
