Minister Majnun Mammadov met with Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank for South, Central and West Asia

Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov met with a delegation led by Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for South, Central and West Asia Yingming Yang, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

Relations between Azerbaijan and the Asian Development Bank were discussed at the meeting.   Welcoming the guests, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said that cooperation with international organizations is continuing in order to apply the best practices in the agrarian sector in our country. Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to the discussion of new initiatives that will further strengthen this partnership and contribute to the sustainable development goals of our country. The Azerbaijani government is interested in effective cooperation with the Asian Development Bank on the basis of its agricultural development policy and strategy. At the meeting, the importance of the 29th Session of the Conference of parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), held in Baku, was emphasized that this prestigious event is an important event in the global fight against climate change.

Vice president of ADB for South, Central and West Asia Yingming Yang, in turn, gave detailed information about the activities of the organization he represents, agricultural projects implemented in different countries, and spoke about the possibilities of cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture.

During the meeting, the importance of the projects implemented within the framework of joint cooperation with the Asian Development Bank was emphasized and the prospects for further cooperation were considered.

The sides exchanged views on the priority areas for future cooperation - increasing productivity in the agricultural sector, protecting land and water resources in full, rational use and management of resources, digital transformation of agro-food systems, increasing export potential by meeting international standards in the field of food production and processing, strengthening education, training and research in the agricultural sector, building a sustainable agricultural system for the sustainable development of rural areas and communities.

At the meeting, an agreement was reached to determine the prospects for further cooperation with the Asian Development Bank and to continue the preparation of projects for the development of Agriculture at the Working Group level.
