Discussions were held on "Financing of sustainable water investments in Islamic Development Bank member countries" within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Financing strategies to reduce the impacts of climate change on water resources and strengthen climate-resilient water investments in IDB member countries were discussed at the event held at the Islamic Development Bank Group pavilion located in the "Blue Zone".

During the discussions, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Majnun Mammadov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of National Economy Nurlan Baybazarov, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group Mohammad Al-Jassar shared their countries' efforts in the field of water resources management and regional initiatives in a time of increasing pressure caused by climate change. .

Mark Smith, Director General of the International Water Management Institute, and Lyaziza Sabirova, Head of Regional Cooperation and Integration of the Central and Western Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank, spoke at the panel discussions and gave information about leading approaches in the field of adaptation of water resources to climate change and ongoing initiatives in Azerbaijan.

In the session moderated by Seyed Hussain Quadri, Director of the Sustainability and Climate Action Department of the Islamic Development Bank, ideas were exchanged on partnerships and financing mechanisms between the public and private sectors to support climate-resilient water infrastructure.

The participants note that the panel discussions are in line with the COP29 climate sustainable development and sustainability goals in the direction of expanding regional cooperation and mobilizing financial resources to ensure sustainable water management. These discussions will serve as a practical basis for the organization of sustainable water management in a more advanced form in the participating countries.
