Panel discussion on "Working mechanism of climate finance for farmers: in-farm practices and concrete solutions" was held

The last panel discussion held by the Ministry of Agriculture at the “Food, Agriculture and Water Day” within the framework of the 29th Session of the Conference of parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was devoted to the topic “Working Mechanism of climate finance for farmers: on-farm practices and concrete solutions”.

Opening the event, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov noted that the panel discussions held within the framework of the International Climate Conference serve the future of agriculture, and that collective action will contribute to the process of global food systems responding to the challenges of climate change, food security and sustainable development.

The Minister stressed that the future of agriculture depends on innovation, technology and inclusion. He said that for this purpose, the government of Azerbaijan prefers initiatives that help farmers to adopt advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital tools that optimize productivity, save resources and increase climate resistance. This approach is important not only to increase productivity, but also to create the foundation for sustainable agricultural practices.

The Minister called on the participants to support the Baku Harmony Climate Initiative for farmers, which aims to strengthen the empowerment of farmers, women and youth, share solutions and contribute to global food security: “We believe that by uniting under this initiative, we can create a strong network that strengthens sustainability and allows farmers to develop even in the face of climate uncertainty”.

Speaking at the panel discussions, local and foreign experts noted that digitalization is required in every sector of agriculture in order to effectively use limited resources. In their opinion, the integration of innovations, the development of human potential and inclusion will determine the success of agriculture in the future. The speakers emphasized that ensuring the inclusive and sustainable development of Agriculture in the light of global climate change in the modern era has become one of the main goals. It was noted that increasing production in the agricultural sector and ensuring food security necessitates regular cooperation at the global level.
