Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov reviewed the sown areas in Barda and Tartar

On May 7, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov reviewed the cotton field cultivation based on Chinese technology in the field of cultivation of Shirvan Experimental Station located in Ujar District of Plant Protection and Technical Crops Research Institute of Agrarian Science and Innovation Center.

It was noted that for planting in an area of 18 hectares, land-planting works were carried out using disc-trowel imported from the people’s Republic of China. The seed sowing was carried out with the sowing unit made with Chinese technology. As in the past year, high productivity is expected in the cotton-growing sector based on Chinese technology.

Later, Minister Inam Karimov got acquainted with the construction work at the cocoon drying station in Barda, reviewed cotton and grain fields in the territory of New Dashkand village, watched the onion harvesting process, exchanged views with farmers on productivity. The Minister noted that the development of the agricultural sector was declared as a priority by the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev.

Minister Inam Karimov stressed that appropriate measures were taken on the basis of the instructions of the Head of State to minimize the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on agriculture: “All necessary steps implemented to ensure that the measures taken against the spread of coronavirus do not have a negative impact on agriculture, the activity of farmers, the provision of citizens with agricultural products. At present, in accordance with the rules established by the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers, the requirements of a special quarantine regime are strictly observed and work in the agricultural sector is continuing in the regions. At the same time, there are no problems in the transportation of food products between districts and cities. Today we are in Barda, one of the leading agro regions of the country. Last year, Bardali farmers received a lot of income from onion exports. This has increased interest in onion cultivation in the region, especially in farash onion cultivation. This year, the harvest in onion fields is abundant. For some time now, the harvesting of may onions has begun in Barda, Beylagan and Agdam. Farmers to bring their products both to interior markets and to export to foreign countries”.

Then, Minister Inam Karimov reviewed the reconstruction measures in the administrative building of the Tartar Regional Agrarian Science and Innovation Center’s Zone Experimental Station, got acquainted the cotton plantation area in the Tartar region sort test point, intensive fruit garden, greenhouse and fruit sorting point in Iravanli village.

Agricultural producers noted that as a result of the sowing of productive seeds and proper compliance with agrotechnical rules, a lot of crops were grown in the fields. Farmers said that there are no difficulties with the transportation and storage of products, this year they will receive more income from onion storage. They expressed their gratitude to the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev for the support provided to farmers in connection with the increase of the state’s crop production.
