Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov visited the intensive fruit garden in Khachmaz on May 14. It was noted that a new intensive garden was built in an area of 24 hectares. Thus, the area of the modern garden, where cherry, pear, peach, cherry fruits are planted, has reached 76 hectares.

Work in these gardens watered by drip method has been fully mechanized. Water injected into plastic pipes is automatically supplied to the trees. This, in turn, prevents both loss of time and water costs.

Then Minister Inam Karimov visited Gusarchay Scientific Research Institute Of Vegetable Growing. The model farm with an area of 161 hectares produces vegetable products with high yield and quality indicators, resistant to the negative effects of abiotic factors, diseases and pests.

Minister Inam Karimov was interested in the construction of Khachmaz sort testing station and reviewed the cooling warehouse with a capacity of 2500 tons. For the first time in Azerbaijan, he got acquainted with the implementation work in the framework of the “Smart Garden” project, which was created in Guba with the application of modern technologies. Within the framework of the “Smart Garden” project of the Research Institute of Fruit growing and Tea-growing of the Ministry of Agriculture, the fruit garden was completely automated and computer management was applied. A variety of fruit trees, including apple, pear, quince, peach and cherry are harvested in the mixed orchard. One of the biggest innovations is that the subartesian well drilled for the water source is powered by electricity from solar panels. The “Smart Garden” also has a day, full and frost-proof coating system. A central warning system has also been installed in the “Smart Garden”. Through this system, the process of growing plants in orchards is controlled. Data on the demand of fruit trees for water, fertilizers, as well as pests and diseases are transmitted to the central system. In addition, the dynamics of the growth of the size of fruits in the system will be regularly reflected.

Then Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov reviewed Research Institute of Fruit growing and Tea-growing of the Ministry of Agriculture, “Farmer’s House”, intensive garden located in the territory of Nukadi II and exchanged views with farmers. The support of the state for the development of the agricultural sector has further increased people’s interest in agriculture, the farmers noted.

The Minister of Agriculture told reporters that the development of the agricultural sector was declared as a priority by the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev: “Appropriate measures are being taken on the basis of the instructions of the head of state to minimize the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on agriculture. Measures to combat the pandemic in the country are being continued. All necessary steps implemented to ensure that the measures taken against the spread of coronavirus do not have a negative impact on agriculture, the activity of farmers, the provision of citizens with agricultural products. At present, in accordance with the rules established by the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers, the requirements of a special quarantine regime are strictly observed and work in the agricultural sector is continuing in the regions. At the same time, there are no problems in the transportation of food products between districts and cities. Today we reviewed farms and agricultural infrastructure in Khachmaz and Guba districts. As you know, Guba-Khachmaz economic region specializes in the production of vegetables and fruits, and the share of these regions in the export of agricultural products is large. During the special quarantine regime, there are no problems in the supply of agricultural products”.

The Minister noted that the abundant of products in the fields this year allows farmers to bring their products both to interior markets and to export to foreign countries.
