"Human Rights Month" event held at the Ministry of Agriculture

Within the framework of the “Human Rights Month” announced by the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a meeting was held on the topic of “The Essence of Human Rights and Freedoms” organized by the United Trade Union Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the United Trade Union Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture Fuad Mammadov said that the first strategic state document in the field of human rights in our country, the “State Program on the Protection of Human Rights”, was approved by the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev on June 18, 1998, and the provision of human rights was determined as one of the main directions of state policy. Taking this into account, by the decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated June 18, 2007, June 18 is celebrated as Human Rights Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan every year.

It was noted that as a result of the purposeful policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the legal state building and the rule of law have been ensured. Fuad Mammadov provided information on important provisions on the protection of human rights and legitimate interests enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and international treaties to which it is a party, as well as other legislative acts, as well as on the targeted work carried out at the state level to ensure them, including measures taken to protect the rights of workers working in the agricultural sector.

Speaking at the event, Head of the Legal and Executive Discipline Department Yaser Abdullayev provided detailed information to the meeting participants about the extensive activities carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture in the field of human rights protection and promotion.

The speakers at the event noted that special attention is paid to the organization and provision of healthy and safe working conditions for employees and farmers in the Central Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and in the regions, and that educational activities and trainings are held in this direction.

An exchange of views was held at the meeting, and questions of interest to the participants were answered.
