An awareness-raising event was held at the Agricultural Research Center within the framework of the “Human Rights Month” announced by the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the event is to further increase attention to the promotion, protection and provision of human rights.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Union of Trade Unions of Agrarian, Ecological and Water Management Workers Fuad Mammadov said that the provision of human rights is one of the main directions of state policy. The first strategic state document in the field of human rights in our country, the “State Program on the Protection of Human Rights”, was approved by the National Leader Heydar Aliyev on June 18, 1998. By the Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated June 18, 2007, June 18 is celebrated as Human Rights Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan every year.
Fuad Mammadov provided information on the work done at the state level to ensure human rights and their provision, including measures taken to protect the rights of workers working in the agricultural sector.
Then, Yaser Abdullayev, Head of the Legal and Executive Discipline Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, delivered a speech at the event. He provided detailed information on the work and priorities carried out in the field of human rights protection and promotion in the Ministry and subordinate institutions, as well as the protection of labor rights.
The speakers at the event noted that special attention is paid to the organization and provision of healthy and safe working conditions for employees and farmers in the Central Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and in the regions, and that educational events and trainings are held in this direction.
The meeting exchanged views on the topic and answered questions of interest to the participants.
