Online meeting between the Ministers of Agriculture of Azerbaijan and Oklahoma

On may 22, an online meeting was held between the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov and the Minister of Agriculture of the state of Oklahoma Bleyn Arthur.

The meeting was attended by extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the USA in Azerbaijan Orl of Litzenberger, extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to U.S. Elin Suleymanov, the Director of the Azerbaijani mission of the U.S. Agency for international development Jaydev Sinx and chairman of the Board of Directors Reza Vaziri, USACC.

Reza Vaziri, chairman of the USACC’s Board of Directors, opened the meeting and stressed that the chamber will continue to support the further development of partnership between Azerbaijan and the state of Oklahoma.

During the meeting, the Ministers discussed the current state of Agriculture in Azerbaijan and Oklahoma, as well as the impact of the global pandemic on this sector.

Inam Karimov said that as a result of the preventive measures implemented by the government in Azerbaijan, agriculture is the least damaged sector in the country's economy.

In turn, Bleyn Arthur informed Minister Inam Karimov about the impact of the pandemic on agriculture in the state.

The sides agreed to keep communication lines open in difficult times, such as a global pandemic, and expressed their readiness to strengthen partnership relations with specific projects, especially in the field of education in agriculture.

Ambassador Orl Litzenberger and Ambassador Elin Suleymanov stressed their continued support for the partnership between Azerbaijan and Oklahoma State, as well as the relations between Azerbaijan State Agricultural University and Oklahoma State University within the framework of the Oklahoma-Azerbaijan Agriculture Forum last year.

The meeting was organized within the framework of the partnership document signed on April last year between the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and the US Agency for International Development (USAID/Azerbaijan).

Last year, the first Oklahoma-Azerbaijan Agriculture Forum was organized by the Ministries of Trade and Agriculture of USACC, USAID/Azerbaijan, Oklahoma. Trade mission consisting of 18 companies and organizations headed by Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov paid a visit to Oklahoma to attend the forum. More than 100 agricultural experts and representatives of the private sector attended the forum, which lasted for three days.
