Prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and FAO discussed at the meeting
Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov, who is on a working visit to the Republic of Italy, met with Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Qu Dongyu. The meeting, which took place at the FAO Headquarters, emphasized the importance of projects implemented within the framework of joint partnership with the organization, and discussed prospects for future cooperation.
Minister Majnun Mammadov touched upon the importance of holding COP29 in Azerbaijan and spoke about the measures taken to minimize the impact of climate change on the agricultural sector. The meeting emphasized that the development of the agrarian sector in Azerbaijan is a priority, and drew attention to state support for the development of agriculture and the reforms carried out in this direction.
FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, in turn, noted that Azerbaijan is one of FAO's important partners and is pleased with the establishment of high-level relations between our country and the organization. The FAO official said that Azerbaijan has great potential for the digital development of rural areas, and shared his views on the directions for expanding cooperation.
The parties exchanged views on the projects implemented within the framework of the FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Program and the results achieved, noted that Azerbaijan is represented at a high level in FAO, actively participates in the work of highly elected bodies, and discussed the prospects for holding a number of international events on multilateral partnership platforms.
In the end, a broad exchange of views was held on topics of mutual interest.
