A scientific-practical seminar on “Ultrasound examination of reproductive organs in horses and application of artificial insemination” was held at the Republican Center for Artificial Insemination of the Ministry of Agriculture. The aim of the seminar is to expand the application of modern biotechnology in the field of horse breeding in Azerbaijan, to preserve the genetic heritage of Karabakh, Dilboz and other local horse breeds, and to improve selection work.
The seminar was attended by Mahir Hajiyev, Director of the Scientific Research Institute of Animal Husbandry, specialists of the institute, heads of state agrarian development centers, Gulali Gulaliyev, Director of the Dilbaz Horse Breeding Center, Shalala Zeynalova, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, Yashar Guluzade, specialist in Karabakh horses, veterinarians and artificial insemination technicians.
Speaking at the event, Elton Abdurahmanov, Director of the Republican Center for Artificial Insemination, emphasized that Karabakh and Dilboz horses are the national wealth of the Azerbaijani people. Elton Abdurahmanov, who said that there is great interest in local breeds of Karabakh horses in Azerbaijan, emphasized that the state is doing important work to restore the glory of Azerbaijani horses and ensure the development of horse breeding in our country.
The experts who spoke at the seminar highly appreciated the work done to develop horse breeding and preserve the pedigree composition of local horses, and emphasized the importance of continuing such measures. The speakers voiced their proposals on genetic mapping of horse breeds, development of selection programs, expansion of artificial insemination and strengthening of specialist training, and answered the questions of the seminar participants.
As part of the event, a training was organized for veterinarians and specialists interested in the field of horse breeding. A foreign specialist gave a presentation on the role of ultrasound examinations in the diagnostics of the reproductive system of horses and effective methods of artificial insemination, and shared his theoretical and practical knowledge in this field. Students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, as well as Khazar University, participated in the training.
At the end of the event, certificates were presented to the participants, and discussions were held about future cooperation and project opportunities.
