Inam Karimov, Minister of Agriculture reviewed the sowing areas and orchards in Barda and Tartar. Inam Karimov firstly got acquainted with the cotton area of farmer, Nijat Mammadov in the Arabs village of Barda.
The Minister noted that the development of the agricultural sector was declared a priority by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Noting that there is a drought in Azerbaijan this year, the Minister noted that specific and serious tasks were set for the effective use of water resources: “Global warming remains the main problem in all States. Therefore, efficient use of water resources is one of the main tasks. At the meeting held under the leadership of Mr. President, it was repeatedly noted that it is important to use modern irrigation technologies for efficient use of water resources. Currently, Azerbaijan has expanded the use of innovations in the irrigation process. The most common of these are drip irrigation systems. Currently, hundreds of farms, mostly perennial plantings, use drip irrigation systems. This method allows efficient use of both water resources and increases productivity. For this reason, the state has included irrigation systems in the list of agricultural equipment, which was applied a discount of 40 percent. We encourage our farmers to use the opportunities created by the state and install modern irrigation systems on their farms. By doing this, they increase productivity and use water resources sparingly”.
For the first time, in order to further stimulate agricultural activities in Azerbaijan, the Minister met with the winner of the “Farmer of the month” competition announced among farmers, seed grower Ikram Ziyadov, who exchanged views with farmers on productivity, noting that the main goal of the competition is to identify exemplary farmers and create a healthy competitive environment among farmers.
Noting that the Barda district has been engaged in grain farming for many years, Ikram Ziyadov noted that as a result of proper agrotechnical care from the grain field, an average of 54 centners were obtained for wheat and 45 centners for barley. Ikram Ziyadov, awarded the title of “Farmer of the month”, was awarded a special diploma.
After getting acquainted with intensive cherry orchard of farmer, Ildirim Malikov in the village of Arabs, and the re-corn field of farmer, Etibar Jumshudov in the village of Zumurkhan, the Minister then went to Tartar and visited cotton field planted on the basis of Greek technology on the territory of the experimental testing station, and was interested in the construction.
