Cooperation issues discussed between Agricultural Research Center and Wageningen University

A meeting was held between the Agricultural Research Center (ATM) under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Wageningen University of the Netherlands (WUR), one of the world's most prestigious scientific research centers in the field of agricultural sciences.

The online meeting, organized with the support of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Netherlands and where future cooperation issues were discussed, was attended by Kalyan Guntuboyina, Partner Relations Manager for the Asian Region of Wageningen University, Rashad Huseynov, Director of the Center, Namig Shalbuzov, Deputy Director, and Parviz Aliyev, Advisor to the Director.

Rashad Huseynov, Director of the Agricultural Research Center, welcomed the meeting participants and provided extensive information about the Center. The Director spoke about the role of the Center in implementing state policy in the agricultural sector, conducting scientific research in this field, and training researchers.

The other party, in turn, provided information about the activities of the institution it represents.

During the meeting, information was exchanged between the parties on the main areas of activity where cooperation is possible, and future cooperation prospects were discussed. A preliminary agreement was also reached on determining the directions of activities for the implementation of joint scientific research. As well as exchanging views on education and experience of academic staff, sharing scientific achievements, implementing joint scientific projects, etc. issues.

Other speakers also noted the priority areas for cooperation as state regulation in agriculture and agricultural policy, understanding the impacts of climate change on agriculture, sustainable agriculture, including social aspects of agriculture, food security issues, rural development strategies, training needs assessment, etc.
