A CEREMONIAL MEETING DEDICATED TO AGRICULTURAL WORKERS’ DAY WAS HELD

A ceremonial meeting dedicated to November 1 – Agricultural Workers’ Day was held at the Ministry of Agriculture. The event began with the playing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a one-minute silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.

Opening the event with an introductory speech, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov congratulated farmers on their professional holiday. The Minister noted that the foundations for the formation of agrarian policy in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the transition to a modern stage of development were laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Under his leadership, the strategic importance of agriculture in the economy was defined, land reforms were implemented, property relations were established, and fundamental steps were taken to improve the social welfare of the rural population. As a result of important decisions adopted on the initiative of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the system of state administration in the agrarian sector was improved and the share of domestic production in food supply increased significantly.

Minister Majnun Mammadov added that this strategic line defined by the National Leader is successfully continued today by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. Within the socio-economic development strategy implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, special importance is attached to the agricultural sector. Consistent and targeted measures are being taken to enhance the competitiveness of agriculture, expand employment in rural areas, improve state support mechanisms and subsidies, promote digitalization of the agricultural sector, and encourage export-oriented production.

Emphasizing that agricultural workers, who play an important role in implementing agrarian policy, support the successful policies pursued by the state, Minister Majnun Mammadov stressed that the dedication, knowledge, and experience of farmers play a special role in the achievements attained.
Speaking at the event, Latif Gasimov, Head of the Agrarian and Ecology Department of the Cabinet of Ministers, noted that the attention and care given to agriculture and the reforms carried out in this sector since the period of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s leadership of Azerbaijan have become the foundation for the development of the sector. He stated that the attention devoted to agriculture by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continues this policy, has further accelerated the sector’s development. He also highlighted the commendable work carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture in terms of innovative approaches, application of scientific achievements and international experience, and identifying new directions based on conducted analyses.

Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Agrarian Policy, Member of Parliament Tahir Rzayev, noted that by a decree signed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, in 2008, November 1 has been celebrated annually in the country as Agricultural Workers’ Day, which is a clear manifestation of the high attention and care shown to all those working in the agrarian sector and to the devoted labor of farmers. He emphasized that development built on a solid foundation continues successfully today, with growth observed in the agrarian sector. Pointing out that the modern era presents new realities and requirements for agriculture, and that intensive development of the sector depends on professional personnel and specialists, Tahir Rzayev stressed that great responsibility and important tasks rest on the shoulders of agricultural workers.

Subsequently, a video presentation was shown on the activities of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2025 and the work carried out in the agrarian sector.

Speaking at the event, Saadat Dibirova, a farmer and representative of the “Chinar” Women’s Production and Consumer Cooperative, Murvat Hasanli, Chairman of the Public Association “Azerbaijan Poultry Meat and Egg Producers and Exporters Association,” and agronomist Sadafar Huseynov expressed their gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev on behalf of those working in the agrarian sector for the high attention and care shown. They spoke about the work carried out in agriculture and emphasized that state support for the agricultural sector has further increased interest in this field.

Later, certificates of appreciation were presented to farmers who achieved high results in the 2025 agricultural year, to Ministry employees with long-term service in the agrarian sector, as well as to employees who became winners of the “Employee Recognition Program.”
It should be noted that within the framework of the “Employee Recognition Program,” employees of the Agrarian Research Center, Vusala Babayeva and Tural Rustamov, were also awarded Certificates of Appreciation for being selected as “Most Efficient Employee” and “Best Team Player.”
