The next meeting of the “Agrarian Advisory Council” Public Association, established to contribute to the development of Azerbaijan’s agricultural sector and bringing together the country’s largest agribusiness companies, was held. The event was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Economy, and the State Customs Committee, members of the Agrarian Advisory Council, as well as representatives of various companies and associations. The purpose of the meeting was to analyze the current state of the poultry sector in the country, discuss existing challenges and development directions, improve state support mechanisms, and identify new opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Opening the event with an introductory speech, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov emphasized the strategic importance of the livestock sector, noting that its development plays a crucial role in ensuring food security, increasing local production, and reducing dependence on imports. The Minister stated that state-implemented programs, subsidy mechanisms, investment projects, and support provided to farmers are aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of the poultry sector.
In his speech, Chairman of the Agrarian Advisory Council Niyazi Amirbayov highlighted that strengthening public–private partnerships, applying innovative approaches, and benefiting from international experience are among the key directions for sectoral development.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee Shahin Bagirov, in turn, spoke about measures taken to increase transparency in import and export operations of poultry products, simplify customs procedures for local producers, and expand export potential.
Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli provided information on steps taken to develop entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector, investment incentive mechanisms, and strengthening the value-added chain in the poultry industry.
Within the framework of the event, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture Zaur Aliyev delivered a presentation titled “State Policy for the Development of the Poultry Sector: Targets and Opportunities.” The presentation covered state support to be provided to the poultry sector, planned programs, and development goals.
Subsequently, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Poultry Meat and Egg Producers and Exporters Association, Murvat Hasanli, and Director of “Siyazan” Broiler OJSC, Javid Abbasov, delivered presentations on “Proposals for the Development of the Poultry Sector.” They outlined the current situation in the private sector, ways to address existing challenges, and proposals to strengthen cooperation with the state.
The event featured extensive discussions on current challenges facing the poultry sector, opportunities to apply international best practices, improvement of state support mechanisms, and future areas of cooperation. The proposals voiced during the meeting were recorded for further consideration.
