MINISTER MAJNUN MAMMADOV MET WITH GEORGIA’S MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND AGRICULTURE

A delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Majnun Mammadov, paid an official visit to the Republic of Georgia. Within the framework of the visit, the delegation first visited the Heydar Aliyev Park of Culture and Recreation in Tbilisi, where they paid tribute to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev by laying flowers at his monument.

Subsequently, a bilateral meeting was held between the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Majnun Mammadov, and the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, David Songulashvili, followed by an expanded meeting between the two delegations. During the meetings, the parties exchanged views on prospects for cooperation in the field of agriculture between the two countries.

Georgia’s Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, David Songulashvili, noted that Georgia and Azerbaijan are friendly countries and expressed Georgia’s interest in developing partnership relations across all areas. He emphasized the importance of intensifying trade relations and expanding cooperation in the agrarian sector between the two countries.
David Songulashvili highlighted Georgia’s interest in studying Azerbaijan’s experience in the areas of agricultural digitalization, the smart village model, and the establishment of greenhouses, as well as in cooperating in these areas.

Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov provided information on the main directions of Azerbaijan’s agrarian development strategy and the innovative projects being implemented in the country.
The parties discussed increasing bilateral trade turnover in agricultural and food products, transferring advanced technologies in agriculture, promoting digitalization, implementing exchange programs in agricultural research and education, sharing scientific research information, conducting joint research projects, training professional personnel, transferring best practices and technologies in the agrarian sector, strengthening ties between business communities to further diversify bilateral trade relations, ensuring regular exchange of information on export-oriented products, land consolidation, joint measures to combat transboundary diseases and pests, including the brown marmorated stink bug, and ensuring active participation in international exhibitions held in both countries. They also exchanged views on future areas of cooperation.

The parties reached mutual agreement on developing a concrete action plan on the discussed issues and establishing a joint Working Group to define areas of cooperation in the agrarian sector. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
