The Agricultural Research Center and the National Observatory are conducting a joint study on informal employment in agricultural sector

Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Agricultural Research Center and the National Observatory on Labor Market and Social Protection Issues, a joint study is underway on “Informal Employment in the Agricultural Sector in Azerbaijan”. In this context, an online meeting was held the participation of relevant representatives from both organizations.

During the meeting, participants discussed the implementation of a survey among farmers, the finalization of the questionnaire, and other related organizational matters. At the meeting, Parviz Aliyev, Advisor to the Director of the Agricultural Research Center, presented information on internationally recognized methodologies for assessing informal employment. He emphasized that the agricultural sector accounts for the largest share of informal employment worldwide and shared the findings of research on the current state of informal employment in the agricultural sectors of Türkiye, the Russian Federation, and Georgia. In addition, he introduced the prepared questionnaire to the meeting participants and addressed their questions.

It should be noted that assessing the current level and structure of informal employment in the agricultural sector will significantly contribute to enhancing the effectiveness and targeting of policy documents and strategies aimed at the sector’s development.
