A meeting was held at the Ministry of Agriculture on the topic of “Results of 2025 and Tasks Ahead in 2026”. The meeting, chaired by Minister Majnun Mammadov, was attended by officials of the Ministry’s Office, heads of subordinate institutions, and directors of State Agricultural Development Centers.
Opening the meeting with an introductory speech, Minister Majnun Mammadov said that 2025 was a period of responsible and intensive activity for the agrarian sector. Improving state support mechanisms, more targeted and transparent application of subsidy policy, improving the quality of services provided to farmers, as well as steps taken towards digitalization, have made a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the sector. In 2025, the country produced 129 billion manats of gross domestic product, of which 5.9 percent fell to agriculture. Agriculture, being in the first place among the exported products in the non-oil and gas sector, plays an important strategic role in ensuring the country's food security and forming foreign exchange earnings.
Recalling that the establishment of agricultural activities in the liberated territories based on the principles of sustainable development is one of the main priorities of the Ministry, the Minister said that last year a total of 6,876 hectares of land in the Khojaly, Khojavend and Lachin regions were put out to tender for the use of entrepreneurs in the areas of horticulture and animal husbandry. Support provided to entrepreneurs who have acquired land on a lease basis as a result of the tender is being systematically continued with appropriate subsidies.
Stressing that the Ministry will face more responsible tasks in 2026, Minister Majnun Mammadov said that increasing production efficiency, rational use of resources, strengthening monitoring and control mechanisms, increasing farmer satisfaction and expanding export potential should be identified as the main directions. In 2026, accelerating digital transformation in the agricultural sector, improving data-based decision-making mechanisms, and expanding the application of artificial intelligence technologies will also be among the main tasks.
Later, Deputy Minister Seymur Safarli spoke on “Development of the Plant Growing Sector”, Deputy Minister Ilhama Gadimova on “Application of Subsidy Mechanisms and Monitoring Results”, and Chairman of the Agro Services Agency Sardar Hajiyev on “Ensuring Epizootic Stability in Animal Husbandry and Implementation Status of Plant Protection Measures” informed the participants of the meeting about the work done last year and the tasks ahead in 2026.
After the speeches, a wide exchange of views was held on current issues in the agricultural sector.
At the end of the meeting, Minister Majnun Mammadov shared his views on increasing agricultural production, institutional improvement and other issues, and instructed the heads of the State Agricultural Development Centers to increase farmer- and citizen-oriented work in the fields, help solve the difficulties they face, and put forward proposals, projects and initiatives related to the development of the agricultural sector. Recalling that high productivity was achieved for many products in 2025, the Minister emphasized the importance of continuing work in this direction in 2026.
