Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov met with Edgars Skuya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Azerbaijan.
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov provided detailed information on state support for the agrarian sector in Azerbaijan. It was noted that the agrarian reforms implemented in our country envisage the further development of agriculture and for this purpose, support measures are being implemented by the state.
The meeting discussed the strengthening of cooperation and the legal and contractual framework in the agrarian sector, the upcoming 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Latvia Intergovernmental Commission, the establishment of a joint Working Group on agriculture, the exchange of information on products with high export potential, increasing trade turnover in agricultural and food products, expanding relations between businessmen, the participation of Latvian entrepreneurs in the Azerbaijan International Agricultural Exhibition, the transfer of modern technologies, and the implementation of internship programs in scientific research and education in the agricultural sector.
Latvian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Edgars Skuja stressed that his country is a friendly country with Azerbaijan and is interested in developing partnership in all areas. He noted the great potential for expanding cooperation in the agricultural sector. The parties expressed their interest in deepening agrarian cooperation.
During the meeting, a wide exchange of views was held on issues of mutual interest.
