Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture visited France

A delegation consisting of educational and scientific research institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan visited Lyon city and Rodez Commune of France.

The delegation met with Mr. Bruno Punt, Head of the “Auriva” Cooperative Group specialized in livestock in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and the management of the Veterinary School of Lyon.

Focusing on the development of agriculture, especially livestock to be priority areas of the country, they put the word out on the government support and the tasks thereof.

“Auriva” Cooperative Group informed about 14 species of pedigree bulls being raised from artificial insemination, as well as diverse climate resilient species of pedigree animals being raised for dairy and meat products. Available scientific-research institutes operating in the agricultural sector and artificial insemination centre in our country was discussed. Discussions were also held to improve local animals’ breed composition by introducing new farming models.

Following the presentation about the Veterinary School in Lyon which had been the first education centre in the world, the delegation visited the laboratory and clinic at the school.
They also got acquainted with the surgery, ambulance and emergency room services, and the development process of future veterinarians.

The members of the delegation met with the representatives of the Chamber of Agriculture in the Rodez Commune and visited the stock-breeding field. They also got closely acquainted with animal care, feeding and breeding processes.

The meeting touched upon the necessity of conducting a collaborative research, highlighting the importance of mutual exchange of relevant knowledge and skills. The parties exchanged their views on building up long-term cooperation in the relevant fields.

Mr. Suliddin Mammadov, Second Secretary for Economic Issues at our country's Embassy to France, attended the meetings as well.
