On June 28, the first meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Center for Agricultural Science and Innovation was held at the Ministry of Agriculture. Opening the meeting, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that as a result of the policy of President Ilham Aliyev, the agricultural sector entered a qualitatively new stage of development, like other sectors of the economy.

I.Karimov also stressed that the agricultural sector in the country has been declared the most visible direction of the non-oil sector. “The agro reforms implemented by the Head of state provide for the further development of agriculture, and for this purpose, many events of state support are being implemented. President Ilham Aliyev set very important tasks for the country to ensure food security and rational use of land and water resources. In accordance with the strategic course set by the President to ensure sustainability in the agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture has established its activities based on the principles of good governance, the application of innovation and proximity to farmers” The Minister noted that with the efficient use of resources and the widespread use of innovative technologies, productivity in this field should be further increased. I.Karimov said that the basis of the agricultural policy is to ensure food security, increase employment and exports in this field. “To achieve these goals, the Ministry of Agriculture has five directions of activity: proper agricultural analysis, finding the right solutions, agro knowledge and skills, strengthening support for the agricultural sector, facilitating farmers’ access to the market. The agricultural sector cannot develop without agricultural science. 3 of 5 directions of activity of the Ministry directly depends on the development of agricultural science. In recent years, the material and technical base of all research institutes is being strengthened. The research work carried out in these institutes on scientific topics should be new, innovative in terms of relevance, meet the needs of industry, farmers, and pay special attention to the application of successful results. “

Minister informed about the current situation in the field of agricultural development, current tasks and events will be implemented in Azerbaijan. Elchin Zeynalov, executive of director of the Center for Agricultural Science and Innovation and Tariel Panakhov, deputy director of the same center, and directors of Research Institutes, spoke about innovative research in the agricultural sector and the application of their results. Development of the agricultural sector discussed in the country, the heads of institutions were given appropriate instructions, and it was decided to hold such discussions on a regular basis in the meeting. The event was attended by representatives of the Administration of the Ministry of Agriculture, employees of subordinate bodies, research institutes, regional Centers for Agricultural Science and Innovation.
