A meeting was held on the theme of "Results of 2020 and upcoming tasks in 2021 related to the development of Sugar-beet production

Online meeting was held on the theme of "Results of 2020 and upcoming tasks in 2021 related to the development of sugar-beet production” organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, on January 26. Minister of Agriculture, Inam Karimov, Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Melioration and Water Management OJSC, Rafig Aslanov, employees of the Ministry's Apparatus and subordinate agencies, representatives of companies operating in this field participated in the meeting.

At the event it was noted that the development of the agricultural sector was declared as one of the priority directions by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev. It was reported that, systematic support measures for the development of the agricultural sector, including the increase of sugar-beet production were carried out by the state. As a result of the implemented measures, high productivity of sugar-beet production was achieved in 2020.

The importance of the farming of sugar-beet plant was touched upon in the meeting. It was emphasized the importance of increasing productivity of sugar-beet production is as one of the important field in agriculture in our Republic. Sugar-beet is a source of silage and molasses, which, in addition to sugar, is also a valuable fodder product.

This year and upcoming tasks related to the preparation for the sugar-beet production, the development of this field, goals and prospects were discussed in the meeting. In accordance with the instructions issued by the President of the Country, discussions were also held on the development of this field in the liberated regions. The importance of timely and correct implementation of agro-technical measures for the production of quality sugar-beet, agrochemical analysis of land areas, proper use of mineral fertilizers, timely implementation of measures against pests were stressed. The importance of the combination of farmers in cooperatives in order to increase productivity and reduce production costs and the importance of continuing education work in this direction were noted.

At the same time, views were exchanged on the provision of mineral fertilizers, seed and technique, irrigation issues, subsidies and the proposals were registered in the meeting.

It was noted that the meetings would be continued in this format and relevant instructions were given for the operative solution of the issues raised at the end of the discussions.
