On February 18, Minister of Agriculture, Inam Karimov, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Economy, Head of the Azerbaijan Milk and Dairy Producers and Export Association, Samir Eyyubov, farmers and entrepreneurs engaged in the production, processing of milk and dairy products took part at the meeting.
The development of the agricultural sector was declared as one of the priority direction by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev at the event. It was noted that as a result of the systematic support measures provided by the state for the development of livestock, in 2020, the production of livestock products increased by 3.1 percent compared to 2019. In the comparable period, milk production was 2.19 million tons increased by 1.9% in the country.
Views on the current condition of the dairy sector in the country were shared, implemented reports in this direction were heard at the meeting. The tasks set for the development of milk production in the country and measures to be taken to increase productivity were touched upon. It was emphasized that increasing the productivity potential of cattle breeding by improving the breed composition of cattle in the development of livestock, creation of a strong and stable feed base, wider application of semi-intensive and intensive storage methods in livestock production as strategic directions of activity were identified.
The sides exchanged views on the issues of establishing value chain among dairy producers and suppliers, giving preference to new breed animals for dairy, increasing production of dairy products on the basis of intensive technologies, creation of milk supply and reception points, provision of food for farms, issues of ensuring the competitiveness of dairy products were discussed at the event.
It was noted that the meetings would be continued in this format and relevant instructions were given for the operative solution of the issues raised at the end of the discussions.
