Minister Inam Karimov visited farms and met with farmers in Barda and Agjabadi
For the 2021 cocoon season, the process of distribution of hybrid silkworm industrial seeds to silkworm breeders has been completed. This year, 14700 boxes of silkworm seeds (grena) were distributed to about 6,000 silkworm breeders from 40 districts. The incubation process of the silkworm seed was implemented for the first time in new cocoon drying institutions built in Barda, Agsu, Fuzuli, and Zagatala districts along with the Gakh Damazlig silk-making station. On the eve of the cocooning season, all the barn for breeding silkworms were disinfected, and the silkworm breeders were involved in the pieces of training.
The last part of hybrid silkworm seeds was distributed to silkworm breeders in the Barda cocoon drying institution. Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov, district leadership, directors of 6 districts of State Agricultural Development Centers, employees of Gakh Damazlig silk-making station, and specialists have attended the event. It was noted that the state support for the development of silkworm breeding in the country increases the interest of the silkworm breeders in this field from year to year. According to the contract signed with silkworm breeders, produced wet cocoon was delivered 4 manats by “Azeripek” LLC, while the state pays 5 manats subsidies for each kilogram of the produced wet cocoon to silkworm breeders.
The event's participants also got acquainted with the feeding conditions of the silkworm in the barn for breeding silkworms in Barda.
Then, the participants were interested in the harvesting of farash onions' condition in Barda, the process of re-sowing of corn in the areas after harvesting, the cultivation of cotton areas.
During the meetings held with farmers in the areas, it was noted that the active period of the agricultural sector began, an exchange of views on the expansion of state support to agriculture, new subsidies, seed development, re-cultivation, and other urgent issues was held.
During the visit to the Agjabadi district, a visit was made to Tazakand and Husulu villages on the basis of the principle of “Unit planting in a unit area”. It was noted that the new model of farmer cooperation, the project “Unit planting in a unit area", is a model that allows efficient use of land and water resources, facilitates the implementation of sequential planting, increases farmers' incomes. Although this pilot project was implemented for the first time in Agjabadi and Barda districts, the project also aroused interest in other regions. In general, in 8 districts this year, a large number of farmers decided to plant a unit plant by combining small share lands located in a unit massif. So far, about 1,000 hectares have been planted on the principle of “Unit planting in a unit area”, it is predicted that these areas will grow during the autumn planting period.
Representatives of the Ministry visited the breeding farm where the local “Garadolag” sheep breed was kept in Azerbaijan. "Garadolag" sheep differ from other domestic breeds in height, weight, and meat yield, so there is a great interest among the breeders in keeping and increasing this breed. Farmers pay special attention to preserving and increasing the breeding characteristics of Garadolag sheep purchased through folk selection.
