Minister Inam Karimov visited Shamakhi and Agsu regions. During the mission the Minister visited agricultural enterprises under construction in these regions, got acquainted with the preparations for the grain harvest, and interested about the implementation work in intensive orchards and livestock enterprises.
An enterprise of a phylloxera-resistant vine grape seedling was built in the Shamakhi region. Table grapes have been planted on 10 hectares and technical grapes on 10 hectares in the complex area. A garden of phylloxera-resistant vines was planted in another 10 hectares. The complex will be ready for full use soon. It envisages the mass production of phylloxera-resistant grapevines.
This year, a new cocoon drying station was built and put into operation in Agsu. In the 2021 season, for the first time, silkworm seeds were incubated at this enterprise and handed over to silkworm breeders from Agsu and Hajigabul regions. Currently, the region is being prepared to receive wet cocoons, wet cocoons to be purchased from silkworm breeders will be collected at this enterprise and handed over to "Azeripek" OJSC.
The process of preparation for the grain harvest is about to be completed in the Agsu regional branch of “Agroservice” OJSC. Mechanics were involved in the trainings, at the initial stage 25 mechanics were registered in the newly launched mobile application “AgroUber”. Another 20 mechanics are expected to be registered in the application in the coming days. The technical inspection of the combines in the district department was completed, and the repair works were ended.
Due to the expansion of state support, interest in planting intensive gardens in Agsu has been increased in recent years. Harvesting started in the alycha orchard planted in a modern way in Garagoyunlu village of the region. A modern drip irrigation system was installed in the 11-hectare garden, and 880 seedlings with vegetative saplings were planted per hectare. A total of 45-50 tons of alychas are expected to be harvested in the orchard this season.
On the eve of the harvest, the latest agro-technical works are being carried out in the intensive almond orchard on 42 hectares in the village of Chiyni. 200 beehives were brought to the area for better pollination in the garden. Plowing and spraying are implemented between the rows. The three-year-old garden is being expected to harvest 6-7 tons per hectare this year. Once the garden is fully harvested, the average productivity will increase even more. The natural-geographical climatic conditions of Agsu allow growing alychas, almonds, pomegranates, figs and olives.
