In January-June 2019, the total volume of agricultural products increased by 13 percent compared with the same period last year. In particular, in the first half of this year, growth was 25.6% in crop production and 2.9% in animal husbandry.
The high observed rates in agriculture also contributed to the increase in the GDP of this sector. According to the State Statistics Committee, the share of value added in agriculture, forestry and fisheries in GDP in January-June 2019 was 5.6%. It should be noted that for the corresponding period last year, this figure was 5%.
The results of the first half of 2019 show that the growth of agricultural production in the country is observed in all fields. Thus, in the first six months of the current year, the grain harvest increased by 40.7 percent, vegetable production - by 13.3 percent, melon production by 37.5 percent, fruit and berries production by 21.1 percent, tobacco production by 27.8 percent. Growth in livestock production continued at a steady pace (meat production in live weight by 3 percent, milk production by 2 percent, egg production by 4.5 percent), barley production by 24 percent.
According to the State Customs Committee, in January-June of this year, exports of agricultural products increased by 27.9 percent in terms of value compared to the same period last year and amounted to $ 411.8 million. In the first six months of this year, exports of vegetables increased by 2.5 percent, fruit exports by 42.2 percent, exports of raw tobacco by 28.6 percent, cotton exports 2.6 times.
