New local and foreign grain sorts were demonstrated to seed producers in Gobustan

An event on "Cooperation with private grain growing farms in the application of new grain sorts and technologies" was held at the Gobustan regional experimental station of the Agricultural Research Institute of Crop Husbandry (ARI). The event, attended by Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov, was attended by heads of leading grain seed enterprises and seed producers.

The event featured demonstrations of new grain sorts grown at the regional experimental station, and a comparative assessment of local and foreign sorts by companies. Farmers were informed about the sorts that are acceptable for cultivation on irrigated lands. In total, about 70 different local and foreign grain seeds are being tested at the station.

Imran Jumshudov, Head of the Crop Department in Azerbaijan's Ministry of Agriculture, spoke on "The role of new sorts and innovative technologies in grain production", Atabay Jahangirov, Director of the Gobustan regional experimental station on "Organization of new grain sorts and seed production" and answered questions from seed producers. The discussions focused on the importance of giving preference to certified seeds as planting material, selection of seeds in accordance with local conditions and soil characteristics, the role of agro-technical services in increasing productivity and other topics.

At the end of the event, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Agricultural Research Institute of Crop Husbandry (ARI) and private seed farms
