Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov met with sunflower producing farmers in Samukh, visited livestock farm and intensive orchards

Harvesting will begin in late July and early August in the sunflower fields. On the eve of the harvest, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov met with farmers engaged in sunflower planting.

The sides exchanged views on the process of preparation for the harvest, sale of harvested products, sunflower seeds, plant protection measures in the fields, irrigation issues and other topics were held at the meeting in Alyushagi village of Samukh region. It was noted that sunflowers have been planted on about 11,000 hectares in Azerbaijan this year. Last year, an average of 22.4 quintals was harvested from the fields, and as a result of proper agro-technical measures, the average productivity is expected to be higher this year. The main part of sunflower crops falls on the Ganja-Gazakh economic region. This year, sunflowers have been planted on 1,791 hectares in the Samukh region, and Samukh farmers will start harvesting in the first days of August.

The issues raised by farmers and their proposals were recorded, and instructions were given to implement the appeals.

During the visit, Minister Inam Karimov visited a livestock enterprise located in the center of the region, intensive peach, nectarine, cherry, apricot and plum orchards in Sarkar village, and repeated corn plantations. During the meetings with farmers in the open field, the sides exchanged views on agrarian reforms, state support for agriculture, measures taken to develop intensive horticulture, the importance of replanting and other topical issues in the agricultural sector.
