Minister Inam Karimov met with cotton farmers in the open area and reviewed their planting areas in Saatli and Sabirabad

The cotton harvest season is being prepared in Azerbaijan. Defoliation measures have been launched in the areas, and cotton harvesters, trailers and tractors are being distributed in the regions.

On the eve of the harvest, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov met with cotton farmers in Saatli and Sabirabad regions. The meetings held in the open air discussed the steps taken to develop cotton growing and strengthen state support measures. It was noted that the improvement of the material well-being of farmers is always in the center of attention. State support measures for the development of cotton growing are being strengthened, and the growing interest in this field has a positive impact on increasing farmers' incomes and employment in rural areas. As a result of the implemented state support mechanisms, cotton growing has become the most labor-intensive and most profitable sector of agriculture for farmers.

This year, cotton has been planted on 14,295 hectares in Saatli and 9,260 hectares in Sabirabad. These two regions account for about 25 percent of the country's cotton planting area. Due to the implementation of maintenance measures in accordance with the technological map last year, the use of new planting methods, high productivity is expected in cotton growing in both regions this year.

The meetings focused on agro-technical maintenance measures, the positive impact of new planting methods on productivity, proper seed selection, irrigation issues, access to modern irrigation systems, quality of drugs used to control diseases and pests, plant protection measures, distribution of equipment on the eve of harvest, preparation of supply points and exchanged views on other issues. The proposals voiced by farmers were recorded, and instructions were given to implement the appeals.

The delegation of the Ministry reviewed corn planting areas, livestock enterprises, intensive orchards in both regions and held talks with farmers.
