08 September 2021

The Ministry of Agriculture continues to hold seed exhibition-sale fairs in the regions. The purpose of the fairs is to form a local seed market, meet the demand for local seeds on the eve of autumn sowing, and help establish direct relations between seed producers and farmers.

The next seed exhibition-sale fair was held in Saatli. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that seed exhibition-sale fairs held in different regions of the country contribute to the further development of seed production.

Earlier, farmers showed great interest in the fairs held in Shamakhi, Shaki and Agjabadi. Holding seed exhibition-sale fairs allows farmers to get acquainted with innovations in this field, to establish direct contacts with producers, to exchange experiences.

Later, the Minister visited the pavilions where local seeds were exhibited and met with farmers. Farmers were advised to use only certified seeds as planting material, take into account soil and climatic characteristics when choosing seeds, and fully follow the rules of agro-technical care in the production process. It was noted that the increase in average grain yield against the background of existing land and water resources depends on the selection of seeds in accordance with local conditions and proper agro-technical care.

During the conversation, the proposals voiced by seeders and farmers were recorded, and instructions were given to implement the appeals.

Let's noted that, seed varieties grown in more than 30 farms engaged in seed-growing in Saatli, Sabirabad, Hajigabul and other regions were demonstrated at the seed exhibition-sale fair held in Saatli. During the day, the fair was attended by about 300 farmers engaged in grain and other agricultural activities.

Representatives of relevant agencies of the Agrarian Services Agency, Agrarian Credit and Development Agency, Agroservice OJSC, Agrarian Insurance Fund, Azerbaijan Seed Producers Association, employees of research institutes, companies engaged in seed production and sale also took part in the fair.

The next seed exhibition-sale fair will be held on September 10 in Jalilabad.
