The next meeting of the Farmers' Council was held at the Ministry of Agriculture

The Ministry of Agriculture held an online meeting of the Farmers' Council. The meeting was attended by leading farmers from 15 regions of Azerbaijan in grain growing, cotton-growing, tobacco growing, fruit growing, livestock, beekeeping, seed-growing and other fields. New members of the Farmers' Council were introduced to the participants at the meeting. The new members represent Barda, Agjabadi, Masalli, Shamkir and Fizuli districts in the Farmers' Council.

Speaking at the event, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that agrarian reforms are underway under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and informed about the latest implementation work of the Farmers' Council members.

The meeting touched upon the innovations in the agricultural sector this year. It was noted that the Agrarian Subsidy Council has announced subsidy ratios for 2022. According to the decision, only crop subsidies will be provided next year, increasing the amount of cotton, sugar beet and tobacco. In addition, the list of plants to be insured for subsidies has been approved. According to the decision of the Agrarian Subsidy Council, in the coming season, planting subsidies will be provided to more than 10 hectares of arable land for crops that play an important role in ensuring food security of the country with agrarian insurance for 3 years.

It was brought to the attention of the participants that continuous reforms are being carried out in order to make agricultural services more accessible to farmers and improve the quality of services provided in a competitive environment. The introduction of private veterinary services in Azerbaijan is a clear example of this.

The members of the council shared their views on the development of various areas of agriculture, including grain growing, cotton-growing, intensive horticulture and animal husbandry, the current state of pastures. It was stressed that timely and correct implementation of agro-technical measures, agrochemical analysis of lands, proper use of mineral fertilizers, medicines and pesticides, timely control of pests are important for high productivity.

The importance of continuing awareness-raising activities among farmers living in the regions was stressed at the meeting, and views were exchanged on the provision of mineral fertilizers, seeds and machinery, irrigation, subsidies, and preferential loans.

The proposals of the members of the Farmers' Council were registered, and instructions were given to implement the appeals.
