The Farmers ' Council held an online meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture. The meeting was attended by leading farmers from 15 regions of Azerbaijan engaged in grain-growing, cotton-growing, tobacco-growing, fruit-growing, livestock, beekeeping, seed-growing and other fields.
Making a speech at the event, the Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that agricultural reforms are continuing under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and informed the members of the Farmers' Council about the latest implemented work. Farmers were provided with detailed information about the decree of the Head of state “On some issues related to the regulation of land relations” signed on October 7. It was noted that this decree was signed in order to complete the work on formalizing property rights over share lands as a continuation of state support measures in the agricultural sector. Farmers were advised to take advantage of the opportunities created by the state, to put their land documents in order, to formalize the right of ownership over the land they own. At the same time, it was emphasized that starting from January 1, 2025, subsidies will be provided to users of sown areas on the basis of an extract from the State Register of real estate on the rights of ownership, rent or use of land. Farmers need to apply to the appropriate state institution on time to obtain these extracts.
It was brought to the attention of the participants of the event that farmers should declare the autumn crops in the E-Agricultural Information System (EAIS) until December 30. At present, the Ministry of Agriculture is continuing awareness sessions in the regions to accelerate the process of declaration of autumn crops. During the meetings, the participants were informed about the procedure of activation of the electronic cabinet in EAIS, the sequence of data entry, the need for agrochemical analysis, the advantages that farmers will be provided with insurance in accordance with the established regulations.
The meeting touched upon the innovations in the agricultural sector during the current year. It was noted that according to the decision of the Agricultural Subsidy Council, only crop subsidies will be provided by increasing the amount of cotton, sugar beet and tobacco crops from next year. In addition, in the coming season, planting subsidies for more than 10 hectares of wheat, barley, rice, tea, lemon, hazelnuts and corn, which play an important role in ensuring food security in the country, will be provided with agricultural insurance for 3 years. Numerous support mechanisms provided by the state to farmers are also provided for in agricultural insurance. Thus, 50% of agricultural insurance premiums are paid by the state.
Speaking at the event, farmers stressed that the calculation of subsidies for cotton, tobacco and sugar beet will increase the interest in this area.
The sides exchanged views on the provision of mineral fertilizers, seeds and machinery, irrigation, subsidies, including soft loans. The proposals of the members of the Farmers' Council were registered and instructions were given to implement the appeals.
