A meeting was held at the Ministry of Agriculture with a delegation led by deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, co-chair of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Niku Popescu.
Welcoming the guests, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, co-chair of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Inam Karimov said that cooperation between the two countries is developing dynamically in all areas. He noted that Moldova is a partner and friend of Azerbaijan. Our country supports initiatives to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in all areas. Minister Inam Karimov reminded that there is a reliable and favorable business environment in Azerbaijan and called on Moldovan entrepreneurs to assess investment opportunities in Azerbaijan.
It was noted that strengthening cooperation between the regions of the two countries, exchanging information on products with high export potential, establishing joint ventures, exploring the possibility of Moldova's integration into Azerbaijan's transport infrastructure projects could be key areas of cooperation.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Niku Popescu said that Moldova is a friendly country with Azerbaijan and is interested in developing partnership in all areas.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for energy cooperation, culture, education and tourism between the two countries.
The sides stressed that Azerbaijan and Moldova have great potential for expanding agricultural partnership. It was noted that the transfer of modern technologies in agriculture, research, training of specialists in the agricultural sector and the export of agricultural products can be the main areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Moldova in the field of agriculture.
The third meeting of the Azerbaijan-Moldova Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Chisinau in 2012, and a preliminary agreement was reached to hold the next meeting in Baku this year. The meeting also approved a proposal to hold a business forum with the participation of Azerbaijani and Moldovan businessmen.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
