The 5th meeting of the Tajikistan-Azerbaijani Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic Cooperation was held

The 5th meeting of the Tajikistan-Azerbaijani Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic Cooperation was held in Dushanbe. Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by a delegation led by the co-chair of the Commission, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov.

The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan in the fields of economy, industry and trade, agriculture, transport, education, tourism, culture and others.

Welcoming the Azerbaijani delegation, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission Zavki Zakizoda said that relations between the two countries are developing successfully in all directions. Noting that Azerbaijan and Tajikistan cooperate effectively on all international platforms, the co-chair said that both countries intend to further expand cooperation in various fields.

The Azerbaijani co-chair of the commission, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov, said that relations between the two countries are based on deep history and cultural roots. These values ​​form the basis of joint cooperation as a reliable partner in all areas. Meetings of heads of state in various formats, friendly relations between our presidents and peoples ensure the further development of these relations.

During the discussions, it was noted that growth rates are observed in the development of economic relations between the two countries, as well as political ones. The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan is growing. Establishing close ties between businessmen of the two countries, holding joint business forums, participation in various international exhibitions organized in both countries will further diversify trade relations and increase trade turnover.

The visit of Tajikistan businessmen to Azerbaijan to get acquainted with the opportunities of the North-South, East-West international transport corridors, Alat free economic zone, opportunities for cooperation in economy, industry, agriculture, technology transfer in education, education, research, tourism and culture has been widely discussed.

The parties praised the activities of the current Azerbaijani-Tajikistan working group in the field of industry, and agreed to establish a joint working group to further expand cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Participants of the meeting noted the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan in trade-economic cooperation, investment, industry, agriculture, transport, communications and high technologies, energy, science and education, culture, tourism, banking, migration, employment, youth policy and sports also decided to expand.

Following the talks, the minutes of the 5th meeting of the Tajikistan-Azerbaijani Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade-Economic Cooperation were signed. According to the protocol, the next meeting of the commission will be held in Baku. The date of the meeting will be agreed through diplomatic channels.

After the meeting, Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Inam Karimov met with Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan Zavki Zakizoda and Minister of Agriculture Sulaymon Ziyozoda. During the meetings, the Tajikistan side noted that Azerbaijan has extensive experience in creating technology parks and agricultural parks, and Tajikistan businessmen want to benefit from this experience. In addition, Azerbaijani businessmen were offered to invest in free economic zones created in Tajikistan. It was noted that these steps will give impetus to the further development of economic and trade relations between the two countries and increase trade turnover. At the same time, the Tajikistan side is seriously interested in Azerbaijan's experience in artificial insemination in livestock and crop production, fruit growing, vegetable production in greenhouses.

It was noted at the meetings that Azerbaijan is ready to share its experience with Tajikistan in these areas, including in the field of agricultural electronics. The parties considered it important to establish joint ventures in the field of citrus orchards, winemaking and canning, as well as exchange of experience in this field.
