Turkic Agro Forum was held in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was organized within the framework of the 1st Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States. The forum was attended by representatives of the member states of the organization and the companies specialized in the agrarian field of the observer countries. Opportunities to expand cooperation in the field of agriculture and implement joint projects between the Turkish states were discussed at the event.
Speaking at the Turkic Agro Forum, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov said that agricultural companies participating in the forum should make the most of the opportunity to hold bilateral meetings: “We are interested in achieving sustainable transformation of our agro-food system against the background of diversification of the country’s economy. Green energy, digitization and a stronger business environment are key targets for building sustainable agriculture. Today, new smart villages are being built in the liberated territories. Developing climate-smart and community-based agriculture in these areas is a top priority. Taking this into account, all participants are invited to cooperate in the transfer of the best technologies and practices for the development of agro-food systems of the liberated areas.
It was noted that the government of Azerbaijan is trying to make the agricultural sector more attractive for foreign investors by creating a favorable investment environment: “There are serious state support mechanisms for agriculture, loans are allocated for the development of this sector. At the same time, the agricultural production process is exempt from all types of tax payments. Foreign agricultural companies operating in the Azerbaijani market can also use the same advantages. Azerbaijan has also become one of the reliable transport and logistics centers of Eurasia with East-West and North-South transport projects. “Foreign investors and businessmen have the opportunity to take advantage of these important logistics projects”.
Later, bilateral meetings were held between the representatives of companies specialized in the agricultural sector of the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States within the framework of the Turkic Agro Forum. Opportunities for cooperation in R&D, agricultural education, technology transfer, plant and animal health were discussed.
