The 1st Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States is being held in Tashkent

A Road Map on Cooperation in the field of Agriculture was signed between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan

The 1st Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States is being held in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting chaired by the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev and Baghdad Amreev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States was attended by the Ministers of agriculture of the countries that are members of the organization and were invited as observers. The purpose of holding the Ministerial Meeting is to discuss the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the field of agriculture, increasing trade turnover, and realizing projects of mutual interest among the participating states.

Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that Azerbaijan is making great efforts to achieve sustainable transformation of the agro-food system: “Green energy, digitization and innovative solutions are the main principles of our activities in the direction of building a sustainable national agro-food system. A successful digital agricultural transformation is being implemented in Azerbaijan. The current practice is recognized as one of the best global practices by relevant international organizations. More than 500,000 farmers in our country benefit from digital agricultural services and government support through the Electronic Agricultural Information System. “Azerbaijan is ready to share this experience with members of the Organization of Turkic States.”

Speakers speaking at the meeting said that the Turkish states have a wide potential for cooperation in all directions of agriculture.

At the end of the event, the Final Declaration of the 1st Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States was adopted.

Within the framework of the meeting, a bilateral meeting was held with the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan Inam Karimov and the Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khocayev. During the meeting, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, during his last official visit to Uzbekistan, discussed the implementation of the tasks regarding the strengthening of cooperation, and the future directions of cooperation. At the end of the meeting, the Road Map on Cooperation in the field of Agriculture was signed between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. In the Road Map, the exchange of experience of the two countries in the field of agrarian insurance system, digitization of agriculture, state support mechanisms for agriculture, creation of a joint venture in the field of sericulture and other issues were reflected.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture of Azerbaijan also held bilateral meetings with Baghdad Amreev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States, Minister of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan Askarbek Janibekov and Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Erbol Karashukeyev.
