Minister Inam Karimov visited farms and met with farmers

On July 23, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov observed the process of summer plowing and repeated corn planting at the Tartar Regional Experiment Station (RES) of the Agricultural Scientific Research Institute and met with farmers from Agdam, Barda, Yevlakh, Tartar, and Goranboy regions.

At the event, which touched on the importance of using new units that allow to carry out several operations at the same time, innovative cultivation technologies - plowing, reparing, levelling the soil with a heavy disc trowel and replanting process were visually demonstrated to the participants.

Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said in a statement to journalists that the state is implementing huge support measures for the further development of the agricultural sector. Subsidies are given for the development of various fields of agriculture, especially grain growing, and concessions are applied by the state regarding the provision of equipment.

Recalling that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev signed the Decree "On a number of measures to increase the level of self-sufficiency with food wheat", Minister Inam Karimov noted that the new decision will further stimulate the production of food wheat in the country: "As you know, there is a food security challenges in all countries of the world at the global level. In order to prevent risks in this area, Mr. President signed a decree to promote food wheat cultivation. According to this Decree, it is envisaged to give farmers a crop subsidy in addition to the planting subsidy per hectare. In other words, our farmers will receive an additional crop subsidy for the food wheat they hand over to the State Reserves Agency and flour mills from now on. In addition, this Decree will promote the introduction of modern irrigation systems for the cultivation of food wheat. The third advantage is that the minimum purchase price for food wheat will be determined. We believe that this Decree will make important contributions to the production of food wheat. "The Ministry of Agriculture, together with other state institutions, will implement incentive measures among our farmers to increase the production of food wheat."

Later, Minister Inam Karimov inspected the cotton field in Mehdili village of Barda region, an intensive orchard, and the livestock complex in Mirzajafarli village and met with farmers.

Farmers provided information on the process of preparation for harvesting, organization of sales, processing possibilities. At the meetings, ideas were exchanged regarding the proper agrotechnical maintenance of cotton fields and orchards, expansion of intensive gardens, and it was noted that farmers benefited widely from the state's support mechanisms for this process.

On July 29, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov observed the process of summer plowing and repeated corn planting in Garatepe village of Sabirabad district, visited cotton fields, got acquainted with the construction of a cotton processing plant being built in Kurkendi village, and met with farmers.

During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the advantages of full transition to crop subsidy in cotton cultivation, proper observance of agrotechnical rules in the cultivation process, compliance with regulations when applying fertilizer to fields, preparation for the harvesting process, provision of equipment and other topics, and suggestions of farmers were recorded.

Sabirabad is one of the largest cotton growing regions of the republic. This year, cotton was planted on nearly 12,000 hectares in the region.
