On July 14, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Agriculture with the delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Kaspars Gerhards, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan. Opportunities for cooperation in the field of agriculture were widely discussed at the meeting.
Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov provided detailed information to the guests about the main directions of the agrarian development strategy in our country, state support for the agricultural sector, implemented innovative projects. It was noted that the agrarian reforms implemented in Azerbaijan, the tax exemption of agricultural activities, the liberalization of the market for the sale of agricultural machinery and breeding animals create wide investment opportunities for Latvian companies specialized in the agricultural field. Azerbaijan supports all initiatives to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with Latvia.
Reminding that there is a reliable and favorable business environment in our country, the minister called on Latvian entrepreneurs to evaluate investment opportunities in Azerbaijan.
The Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Mr. Kaspars Gerhards said that his country is a friendly country with Azerbaijan and is interested in developing partnership relations in all fields. At the meeting, it was emphasized that there is great potential for the expansion of mutual relations in the field of agriculture.
It was mentioned that Azerbaijan and Latvia can expand cooperation in the areas of transfer of modern technologies in the field of agriculture, conducting scientific researches, training of specialists in the agricultural field and export of agricultural products.
Within the framework of the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Research Institute of Vegetables and the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies.
The parties also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
On July 15, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elchin Zeynalov met with the delegation headed by Kazis Starkevičius, the Chairman of the Lithuanian-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Relations Working Group of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
At the event, the participants of the meeting were provided with detailed information about the state support for agriculture in Azerbaijan and the reforms carried out in the agrarian field. It was stated that the agrarian reforms carried out in Azerbaijan envisage further development of agriculture, and for this purpose, the state is implementing very large support measures. At the meeting, views were exchanged on the prospects of Azerbaijan's agricultural sector, the government's priorities in the agricultural sector, as well as innovative innovations in this field, export development and financial support for agriculture.
Also, discussions were held between Azerbaijan and Lithuania about the current situation in agriculture. It was reported that relations between the Republic of Lithuania and Azerbaijan are developing in the field of agriculture as well as in all areas of the economy.
At the event, the issues of increasing the import-export turnover of agricultural products between Azerbaijan and Lithuania, attracting investments to the agricultural sector in our country, and exchanging experience related to conducting scientific research in various fields of agriculture were touched upon. It was emphasized that there is a great potential for the expansion of relations between the two countries in the field of agriculture.
Both sides expressed their interest in cooperation and exchanged views on the prospects of future cooperation.
