Republican Meeting was held on the theme of "Cocoon 2020: Upcoming Challenges" in Zardab

On September 13, in Zardab, Republican Meeting was held on the theme of “Cocoon 2020: Upcoming Challenges”. Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, executive bodies of various regions, directors of departments of the Ministry and State Agricultural Development Centers, representatives of research institutes, miners engaged in the production of barley in 38 regions of Azerbaijan attended a meeting held at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

Opening the event, the head of the executive branch of Zardab, Lutvali Babayev spoke about the implementation measures on the socio-economic development of the region in recent years. Zardab like all regions of the country, has been updated with the care and attention that President Ilham Aliyev paid to the socioeconomic development of the regions: “The orders on the development of the agricultural sector signed by the head of state have been implemented. A lot of work has been done in Zardab. High results have been achieved in the production of grain, cotton, coconut, sugar beets and other agricultural products. As a result of targeted measures taken in the region during the implementation of the “State Program for the Development of Sericulture in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018–2025”, approved by the Presidential Decree of November 27, 2017, the district achieved great success. For example, in 2019, the annual supply of summer barrels with cocoon procurement increased 12.5 times compared to 2016 and amounted to 71 tons 539 kg, which is 11.2% of the national indicator. Over the past 4 years, the Zardab Territory has maintained leadership in the country in the supply of barrels”. Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that the development of the agricultural sector was declared by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, as one of the priority fields. The Minister said that as a result of the implementation measures, the pace of development of the agricultural sector continues: “The agricultural reforms carried out by Mr. President provide for the further development of agriculture. The state takes systematic measures for the development of the agricultural sector, including subsidies, and subsidies are provided for the development of this sector. The positive dynamics of the agricultural sector as a result of state support continued this year. In the first six months of this year, total agricultural production increased by 13%, including crop production - by 25.6%, animal husbandry - by 2.9%”. The Minister said that the cemetery season of 2019 will be remembered with positive results: “It is very pleasant that there is progress in the agricultural sector, as well as in all fields of agriculture. This year 641 tons of cement were delivered, which is 25% more”.

Noting that Azerbaijan has a rich history and great potential for breeding sericulture, the Minister of Agriculture said that President Ilham Aliyev gave important tasks for the development of this sector. In his speech, the Minister touched upon a set of measures taken to develop culinary in Azerbaijan. He informed the farmers about the preparations for the next season and the upcoming tasks, the development of culverts, the goals and prospects, as well as the implementation measures in the field of agriculture and the upcoming tasks. The Ministry of Agriculture thanked 10 miners and 3 consultants for their high productivity in the production of cocoons in Azerbaijan in 2019, the high quality of cocoon producers and the high results achieved in silk incubation. Gratitude was conveyed to farmers by Inam Karimov, Minister of Agriculture, Lutvali Babayev, the head of the executive branch of the Zardab region, and Kamran Nabizade, general director of the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation. Then, Kamran Nabizade, general director of the “Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation” OJSC on the theme of “Goals in the field of production and processing of Cocoon”, Imran Jumshudov, head of the education and training department of the Ministry of Agriculture on the theme “Results of 2019 and coconut production in the republic and upcoming challenges”, Akram Fataliyev, director of the“ Gakh of the breeding silkworm station ” on the theme of “Organization of sowing and incubation of hybrid silkworms” presented at the meeting. Allahverdi Ibragimov, a silver medalist from the Lankaran region, shared his views on the development of cemeteries. During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the development of cereals, the provision of mulberry seeds, the development of hybrid sericulture, incubation, and the proposals of farmers. At the end of the discussion, it was stated that meetings in this format would continue and farmers would be informed of the implementation work to address these issues.
