On the eve of autumn sowing, seed exhibition-sale fairs are held in the regions in order to ensure availability of certified, climate-friendly, quality seeds to farmers. During the season, thousands of farmers had the opportunity to get acquainted with local and foreign seed varieties at the fairs organized in Shaki, Ismayilli, Guba, Agjabadi, Sabirabad and Jalilabad regions.

Today, the next seed exhibition-sale fair was organized in Hajigabul district. The relevant institutions of the Agrarian Services Agency, Agrarian Credit and Development Agency, "Agroservis" OJSC, State Seed Fund, Agrarian Insurance Fund, Azerbaijan Seed Growers Association, local seed producers, research institutes, seed companies engaged in production and sale, farmers participated at the fair organized in the agropark of "Agro Dairy" Limited Liability Company.

Speaking at the event, Head of Hajigabul District Executive Authority Rustam Khalilov said that agriculture is the basis of economy in the district. The implementation of successful reforms in the agrarian field had a significant impact on the increase in productivity. Farmers' preference for high-quality, certified seeds has had a positive effect on the increase in grain production. The holding of such fairs leads to the establishment of direct relations between seed producers and farmers, and the exchange of experience.

Minister of Agriculture Inam Karimov said that this year, like every year, there is a great interest in seed sales fairs: "The first step to achieving high productivity starts with quality, certified seeds. The correct selection of sowing material ultimately leads to higher productivity and more income for the farmer. Every year, the number of farmers who get high productivity from their fields is increasing. Here, as well as proper agrotechnical care, the right seed selection plays an important role. "Such fairs ensure access to quality seeds for farmers and have a positive effect on the formation of the seed market".

Niyazi Amirbayov, the head of Agro Diary LLC, one of the country's largest seed producers, said that farmers are more interested in buying quality seeds this year: "Farmers who obtained high yields from different varieties of seeds last year are already stocking up on quality seeds on the eve of the next sowing season they form. Modern innovations are used in seed production, and seeds suitable for different climatic conditions are grown. Most importantly, farmers have the opportunity to make a free choice, and today's fair is one of those opportunities".

Later, the participants of the event visited the pavilions where different types of seeds were exhibited and met with the farmers. Farmers were advised to use only certified seeds as sowing material, to take soil-climate characteristics into account during seed selection, and to fully comply with agrotechnical maintenance rules in the production process. It was stated that, against the background of existing land and water resources, increasing the average productivity in grain farming depends on the selection of seeds suitable for local conditions and proper agrotechnical care. During the conversation, the suggestions voiced by the seed growers and farmers were recorded, and tasks were given for the implementation of the requests.
