In September, cotton harvesting was started in the Republic. The Ministry of Agriculture held regional meetings in the cotton growing regions under the chairmanship of the head of the Central Office of the Ministry, Rafail Guliyev, in order to assess the process of preparation for harvest. The first regional meeting on the topic "Current situation in cotton growing and preparation for harvesting" was organized in Sabirabad district.
Later, consultations on the same topic were held in Imishli, Salyan and Barda regions. At the meetings, the administration of regional executive authorities, representatives of companies engaged in cotton supply and processing, as well as more than 1000 cotton farmers from Sabirabad, Saatli, Kurdamir, Imishli, Beylagan, Fuzuli, Zardab, Salyan, Neftchala, Bilasuvar, Barda, Aghjabedi, Tartar, Aghdam, Yevlakh and Goranboy regions participated.
It was noted that the number of machines for mechanized harvesting of cotton in the country exceeds the demand. According to the normative data, 350 cotton harvesters and 1050 tractor trailers are required for timely harvesting, supply and transportation of 100,000 ha of cotton. The information obtained from the relevant institutions indicates that there are 447 cotton harvesters and 3085 tractor trailers used in our Republic to harvest cotton. These numbers show that there will be no difficulty in harvesting cotton this year, as in previous years. The demand for equipment in the cotton-growing regions has already been determined, and the equipment has been deployed according to the demand.
During the discussions, ideas were exchanged on issues related to the supply of equipment, fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, water, as well as the provision of subsidies and the suggestions of farmers were noted.
